Acquisitions System Specialist, HACC, Harrisburg, PA
Position Description
This position is responsible for the acquisition, processing, and receiving of library materials, print, non-print, and digital materials. The position routinely collaborates and communicates with employees and vendors. Key accountabilities include ordering materials, receiving and creating invoicing, tracking invoices, reconciling budgets, maintaining records, and ensuring library resources are optimized to support student success. This position requires knowledge of Integrated Library Systems (ILS), accounting principles, budget and financial management. The incumbent works closely with vendors, promptly reports problems, and verifies pricing. The incumbent sets up vendor software to reflect funding codes and ordering processes, orders books and ebooks in the vendor software, pulls records for items ordered into the ILS, receives items when delivered, and processes invoices to go straight to Accounts Payable or through purchasing software for approval and a PO.
The Library Technical Services team is responsible for all technical support services, system administration, operation, management, installation, and implementation of HACC’s Integrated Library Components (ILC) automated systems. This position establishes and implements guidelines for securing all library resources for the College’s libraries through a variety of national vendors and manages the purchasing and acquisition of materials.
Job Duties:

The Scholarly Communications and Copyright Librarian reports to the Director for Research Services and Information Literacy and is directly responsible for advocating for, supporting, and educating the campus community on issues related to scholarly communication, copyright, open access, and open education. The Scholarly Communications and Copyright Librarian is fully engaged with students, faculty, and staff, providing relevant instruction, outreach, and support for scholarship and creative works. The position has liaison duties to academic departments as assigned and will provide research help and information literacy instruction and help build collections for the relevant departments.

Position Description
The Madlyn L. Hanes Library at Penn State Harrisburg seeks a motivated and responsible individual to work part-time in the Access Services Department. This position is for approximately 20 hours a week. The rate of pay is $15/hour. Applicants should be available to work during the academic school year, semester breaks, and over the summer. During the fall and spring semesters, the person in this position must work Mondays from 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. During the summer sessions and holiday breaks, work schedules are based upon the library’s operating hours.
Responsibilities:
- Open and/or close the library during scheduled work hours.
- Provide services to campus and community patrons.
- Perform circulation desk functions (check materials in/out, collect fines and fees, register new borrowers, and process daily circulation reports).
- Answer general information and basic reference questions.
- Manage undergraduate student assistants.
- Report on any library maintenance, equipment, and security issues.
- Assist in special projects.
