Responsibilities:

- Mentorship and Supervision: Mentor and supervise library personnel, including librarians, part-time support staff, and student workers.
- Budget Management: Prepare and manage the library budget, and negotiate contracts with vendors to provide optimal resources.
- Assessment and Improvement: Assess and improve library resources and services to meet curricular student learning outcomes.
- Instructional Development: Develop and implement the library’s instructional offerings for information literacy.
- Committee Participation: Serve on College, consortium, and regional affiliate committees as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education: Master’s or higher degree from an ALA-accredited program.
- Experience: Three or more years of relevant supervisory experience in a library, with a record of increasing responsibility and success in contemporary library services.

Position Description
The Sciences Librarian is directly responsible for supporting and adding value to Bucknell students’ education by serving as a central information resource for faculty and students in the natural sciences and computer science, and providing general research support as part of a team of librarians in a liberal arts setting. This position provides research support and instructional services, selects, organizes, and provides access to information in the relevant disciplines, and supports the campus community in exploring the role of artificial intelligence in higher education libraries and information technology organizations. The Sciences Librarian is fully engaged with faculty and students providing relevant instruction, outreach, and support for scholarship. The Sciences Librarian is expected to contribute to a work environment that is inclusive, diverse and supportive of all members of a vibrant and diverse University community, including students, faculty and staff.
Responsibilities:
- Support and Education: In partnership with faculty, provides in-class and asynchronous information literacy instruction and research consultations.
- Advocacy and Outreach: Conducts outreach related to library and research services, communicating and partnering with faculty in assigned departments to promote information literacy throughout the curriculum.
- Collection Development: Contributes to the development, management, and maintenance of library collections through evaluation, selection, weeding, and other activities.
